It is a white to off-white crystalline powder that is slightly soluble in water and soluble in alkaline aqueous solutions. Thanks to its amino and mercapto groups, the molecule combines strong metal-surface affinity with versatile reactivity, making it a widely used corrosion inhibitor for copper and copper alloys as well as a valuable building block for the synthesis of triazole derivatives, pharmaceutical intermediates and specialty chemicals.
