3-Amino-1,2,4-triazole (CAS 61-82-5; also known as amitrole, 3-AT, 3-amino-1H-1,2,4-triazole or triazol-3-amine) is a white to slightly yellow crystalline powder. It is a heterocyclic compound carrying an amino substituent on the 1,2,4-triazole ring, valued as a versatile building block for triazole derivatives and as a biologically active agent in agrochemical and biochemical research. With a molecular weight of 84.08 and excellent water solubility (about 280 g/L at 20 °C), 3-amino-1,2,4-triazole is widely used in organic synthesis, pharmaceutical intermediates, agrochemicals and biochemical assays.
